Today i receive this email from apollo hosting announcing their new enhanced ftp login feature. The email content goes:
“The purpose of this email is to inform you of a recently implemented Enhanced FTP security feature. As part of our proactive efforts to protect you, and your data, we have implemented this feature for all customers. While this Enhanced FTP Security is optional, we strongly recommend that you implement this for your domain(s) as it will provide greater access control for your FTP environment(s).“
After i go through their enchanced ftp login feature, found out that instead of plain login username and password, you can enable advanced ftp login feature that ask extra question when you perform ftp login to ftp server. Basically, there are 2 extra option, what is your name and where are you from, and only allow ftp login from specific IP address. These better enhance the ftp login feature. More details can be found here: http://www.apollohosting.com/support/ftp_security.php
To enable this enhanced ftp security feature, you have to login to apollo hosting plesk control panel and enable it from there.
